Health Occupations is designed to give students an overview of a variety of professions in the health care field. Students learn how health care facilities function, what various professionals contribute to each facility, and what preparation is necessary to enter these professions. The curriculum is built around a certified nursing assistant textbook. However, many of the skills learned are basic for all health care professionals. We stress basic patient care skills, and all students learn universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection. During the fourth quarter, all students participate in a 6 week internship during which they work in a variety of different areas in the hospital and nursing home. All students are certified in CPR at the end of the school year.
