A Key system, also called a Key Service Unit (KSU), is a system in which a number of lines come from the phone company to a main control unit. The control unit acts as the "brains" of your system sending the incoming call to a main answering phone. The person at that phone then transfers calls to the appropriate phone/extension. Phones on the system can transfer, conference and make both outside or intra-office calls. All telephones on the system share the lines coming from the phone company for outside calls. The number of outside lines and the number of in-office phones you need help determine the size of your Key system. In addition, the control unit can be integrated with other equipment for added features including: voice mail, Caller ID or music or audio "on-hold."
Because of its open digital architecture, the more sophisticated Norstar ICS Key system can be custom configured to the size you need. In addition, the ICS can directly integrate ISDN, T1, Direct In Dial (DID) lines, Caller ID, Automatic Call Distribution (ACD), Caller ID, Voicemail, Computer Telephone Integration (CTI), Voice over IP, and wireless. |
