Strangers from Kansas

Rumor said that a couple from Kansas
Would be my neighbors some day.
Soon a U-haul brought strangers
I wondered if they would stay.

They seem to be lonely and friendly
Think I'll ask them to coffee some day.
I want them to know I'm friendly,
Can't think of a better way.

Friends we became that hot summer.
We'd complain and fan together
Now friends we will be always,
In every kind of weather.

They moved first to Centerville
A short time and off they go.
Then a phone call, they're in Chicago
When they'll land, I don't know.

Now back to Kansas
They have many things there to share
Sunflowers, wind and sunshine
Memories, family and friends are there.

Last week they came to see me
They seemed happy, moving at an end.
The strangers from Kansas, no longer strangers
But two of my very best friends.
