Uncle Sam's Dilemma

Uncle Sam sat in deep concentration; his worries were many and great,
Countless problems had to be solved, before it was too late.
How could he balance the budget while keeping taxes in line,
Assure the nation's safety, keep defenses alert all the time?

Keep communication with all nations open,
The deficit of trade, roll back.
Protect our children from abuse,
Keep our home free from attack.

The precious soil of the farmlands, guarded lest it be destroyed,
Help feed the world's starving people, find jobs for the unemployed.
The aging and needy cared for, their health and dignity preserved.
Every segment of society and labor crying for help richly deserved.

He bowed his head in humble submission, "Heaven, help me," was his plea,
"I can't bear this burden all alone, I need help desperately."
Like a bolt from the sky came a vision and he knew what he must do,
Point a finger at his people and earnestly proclaim, "I NEED YOU."
